This variety, typical of the territory of the Parco dei Nebrodi, owes its name to the heart-shaped shell shape and the span data-mce-fragment="1">particularly sweet taste. For a long time, due to the high processing costs, it was relegated to a marginal role within the typical Sicilian varieties in favour of more profitable varieties. However, it is rediscovering a re-evaluation for its unique organoleptic qualities and a sweet final taste that distinguishes it from the common variety.
